Liberty Lake is fairly close to both Spokane, Washington and Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. In fact, it is equidistance of about 20 miles to reach either city. The only difference is Spokane is to the west and Coeur D’Alene is to the east. Some other close by cities include Green Acres and Opportunity, Washington, and State Line and Post Falls, Idaho. Liberty Lake’s general municipal government is that of the City of Liberty Lake. The mayor/non council charter code city of Liberty Lake was incorporated in 2001. The name of the area, however, came long before. A homesteader named Etienne Eduard Laliberte received the honor of having the area named after him.
